Born in the picturesque western Austrian Alps, Dr. Bernd C. Schmid, FRANZCOG spent the first four decades of his life in Europe before moving to Australia.

Dr. Schmid earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Vienna, founded in 1365. He completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the same university. He also achieved the prestigious Venia Docendi from the Medical University of Vienna, a qualification equivalent to an Associate Professor in Australia. He honed his expertise in Germany while serving as a consultant at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Marienkrankenhaus Hamburg.

In 2013, seeking to expand his knowledge and skills, Dr. Schmid relocated to Australia for a fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He earned his Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 2014.

Throughout his career, Dr. Schmid has held consultant roles at several leading Australian hospitals, including the Royal Adelaide, John Hunter in Newcastle, Royal Women's in Melbourne, and Gold Coast University Hospital. He also underwent a further fellowship at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney under the mentorship of Prof. Neville Hacker.
